Visit from Camborne School of Mines Students to LuNa Smelter
Yesterday, LuNa Smelter had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter (UK) during their educational visit to Rwanda.
The visit provided an opportunity to explore a vital yet often underrepresented stage in the cassiterite supply chain — tin smelting and production.
Educating on Responsible Mineral Processing
During the visit, we shared key insights into:
- the tin smelting process and production stages,
- the challenges surrounding Critical Raw Materials (CRM),
- our approach to traceability and supply chain transparency in CAHRA (Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas).
As Rwanda’s only tin smelter, LuNa Smelter showcased its commitment to sustainable operations and responsible sourcing practices — ensuring traceability from mine to metal.
Thank You for an Engaging Exchange
We extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their enthusiasm and thought-provoking discussions. We hope this visit offered valuable knowledge and a deeper understanding of sustainable and responsible mineral supply chains.
