The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of LuNa Smelter, Prof. Dr Radoslaw Miskiewicz, Ms Aleksandra Cholewa – Member of the Supervisory Board of LuNa Smelter, Mrs Olena Wiaderna – Member of the Management Board, joined by several LuNa Smelter employees participated in the East & Central Africa Mining Forum hosted in Kigali Rwanda on 28-29 October 2019.
It is worth mentioning that LuNa Smelter, the Gold sponsor of this event, also participated in the high-level major presentations. Ms Aleksandra Cholewa – Member of the Supervisory Board of LuNa Smelter and the East and Central Mining Forum Ambassador, Mrs Olena Wiaderna and Mr Alfred Joseph Michael were among the key speakers.
Ms Cholewa, as one of the key players in Rwanda’s mining sector, discussed Rwanda Emerging Mining Investment Destination.
Mrs Wiaderna, joined by others, discussed incentives for responsible sourcing, understanding international expectations, EU regulations and investor expectations.
Mr Michael, together with other key speakers, spoke about the creation of factors conducive to the implementation of projects that create added value in the region: beneficiation, smelting and refining, missing pieces of the puzzle for the development of the mining sector in Africa.
The Guest of Honour, Right Honourable Prime Minister of Rwanda Dr Ngirente noted that estimates show that more than 60% of the world’s mineral resources are located in Africa, yet revenues are still under 20% and investment in exploration is below 15% per year. He said that the recently adopted African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is a welcome additional support to the realization of the Africa Mining Vision and Rwanda is proud to be a part of it.
