Empowering Future Leaders!
LuNa Smelter is proud to partner with the University of Rwanda to shape the next generation of talent.

This year, we were honored to have 10 talented interns from the University of Rwanda, with an equal split of 5 males and 5 females join the Quality control and the Production Department. Let’s hear what some of them had to say about their experience at LuNa Smelter:
Prince Papias Niyomwungeri:
“Since I was a child in my home village, stories about cassiterite, locally known as gasegereti, have captivated my curiosity. Attending my internship at LuNa was like a dream come true, enabling me to gain hands-on experience in analyzing and understanding the composition of cassiterite.”
Jean de Dieu Mutabazi:
“One of my most memorable experiences during my internship was working on a project focused on analyzing cassiterite for tin content. It provided me with a deep understanding of the entire process and the importance of quality control in the tin production industry.”
Ernestine Niyonizeye:
“I believe that even women should be considered for production roles to challenge stereotypes that undermine their abilities in the mining domain. We should strive for inclusivity and showcase the talent and potential of all individuals.”
Odile Uwimpuhwe:
“Being trained at LuNa Smelter has been immensely valuable. I have gained the skills and knowledge to supervise cassiterite smelting and refining procedures with confidence.”
LuNa Smelter is committed to nurturing the next generation of metallurgical leaders. Through our partnership with the University of Rwanda, we are shaping the future of metallurgy, one internship at a time!
