As a significant Polish investment in Rwanda’s mining and mineral-processing sector, we contribute to local value addition, responsible mineral production and the continued development of Rwanda’s critical-minerals industry. The visit provided an opportunity to present these activities across the entire value chain.

The delegation began its visit at Mbogo Mine, where participants saw cassiterite extraction and our approach to responsible mining. They then followed the mineral’s journey to LuNa Smelter, where it is processed into high-purity tin. Our integrated mine-to-metal model supports traceability, responsible sourcing and local value addition by extending the value chain from extraction to mineral processing in Rwanda.

Sustainability and the circular economy are also important elements of our development. At Mbogo Mine, mining tailings are being repurposed into construction materials, while at LuNa Smelter we continue working towards a zero-waste production model, focused on maximizing resource recovery while maintaining a very low carbon footprint. During the visit, we also presented our expansion projects aimed at increasing processing capacity, improving efficiency and creating greater value from Rwanda’s mineral resources.

Study visits like this provide an opportunity to demonstrate Rwanda’s growing capabilities in responsible mining and mineral processing. They also create space for dialogue on further investment, technology exchange and the development of sustainable and traceable critical-mineral supply chains.
