During the visit, we presented LuNa Smelter’s development journey and achievements, our approach to responsible mineral sourcing and processing, as well as our ongoing projects and their impact in Rwanda and across international mineral supply chains.

We also shared our expansion plans and future ambitions, highlighting opportunities for cooperation and partnerships as we continue to strengthen our role in responsible mineral processing and value addition within the critical minerals sector.

The delegation brought together senior representatives from Japan’s government, finance, mining, trading and technology sectors, including METI, NEXI, JX Advanced Metals, Mitsui & Co. and Toppan Holdings. We were also pleased to welcome H.E. Kazuya Nakajo, Ambassador of Japan to Rwanda, and John Armiger, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Rwanda.

The visit provided an important opportunity to exchange perspectives on critical minerals, responsible sourcing, investment, traceability and international cooperation. We thank the Embassy of Japan and all participating organizations for the productive discussions and look forward to exploring new areas of cooperation and building long-term partnerships.
